Expat Living City Guide (Singapore)
HOUSE OF HISTORY
Baroque House is a pre-war conservation shophouse in Little India, designed by prominent Eurasian architect JB Westerhout (who also designed a part of Raffles Hotel).
Abandoned after years as a residence and a sign-craft business, the house at 29 Rowell Road was discovered by Sonia Ong in 2020; she subsequently restored it in stunning fashion as a hub for cultural and culinary experiences and events, and it’s been identified by the Singapore Tourism Board as a Rediscover Singapore tourist destination.
Today, you can join Sonia on one of her wide range of tours (of the house itself or the surrounding neighbourhood), or book yourself and your friends in for a Calligraphy Art Jam, the acclaimed Secret Garden Tour, various private tastings and dining sessions, and more. Alternatively, book the space for an upcoming event, a photoshoot – or even a wedding!
