SSO Gala: Yo-yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble (11-12 NOV)
Be wowed by superstar cellist Yo-yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble as they present two impressive gala programmes this month. Works will include classics such as Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor, and Zhao Lin’s Duo, a concerto for cello and sheng, a traditional Chinese woodwind instrument that has 17 bamboo pipes. Watch an exploration of the clash between modernity and faith in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play, described as an honest look into how we define ourselves and our beliefs in this modern world.
