Annual Indulgence

Often referred to as the “diamond” of the culinary world because of its exclusivity, the indulgent white truffle is only available a few months of the year. To celebrate the muchcoveted delicacy, Senso Ristorante & Bar is offering a special menu (available until the end of November), using freshly harvested truffles flown in from Northern Italy, in everything from starters and soups to pastas, mains and desserts – think pumpkin soup with sour cream and shaved white truffles ($38), white truffle-topped carnaroli risotto ($98), and homemade al dente taglierini with white truffle and aged Parmesan ($98). 21 Club Street. 6224 3534 | senso.sg

A Good Kind of Ageing

Attention, meat lovers! Just when you thought the Huber’s Butchery experience couldn’t get any better, the Dempsey Hill butchery and grocer has started offering customers the option of having their beef cuts aged on-site in the company’s special dryageing chiller, designed to further enhance flavour and tenderness. Simply purchase your choice cut, and the butcher will age it for you – then you can just swing by at any time (during business hours, of course), to check on your beloved beef! Dry-ageing charges start from $20. 22 Dempsey Road. 6737 1588 | hubers.com.sg

Flavour Fusion

New kid on the trendy Amoy Street block is Le Binchotan, a casual- chic FrenchJapanese tapas bar inspired by the traditional bincho-tan (white charcoal) of Japan. The cosy 38-seater space serves up small and large plates of premium ingredients like uni, daikon and miso, which are smoked over the renowned charcoal. Start the meal on a light note with the signature Madai ($25), a beautifully presented entrée consisting of smoked sea bream, eggplant, radish and sherry vinaigrette, or the addictive Tenkasu ($15), a combination of deep-fried enoki mushroom ragout and pickled daikon. The skewers are also a must-try; try the wagyu striploin ($15) or the foie gras ($17). Drinks wise, Le Binchotan serves up bespoke cocktails like The Gin, The Flower and The Bowtie ($23), a refreshing mix of Hendrick’s gin, lemon, coconut and roselle water. Finish with a Smoked Chocolate ($ 15) – frozen blueberries, yogurt shards and smoky dark chocolate.
