Perfect for:
Blasting blemishes, dull skin tone and fine lines
Ideal for those with acne, blackheads and a dull or uneven skin tone, this innovative two-step, non-invasive facial rejuvenation treatment uses a combination of microdermabrasion and dermoelectroporation to safely and effectively introduce active retinol to revitalise your complexion.
What’s involved?
The first step of the therapy is microdermabrasion to exfoliate the top layer of the skin, removing dead cells and superficial scars, while stimulating microcirculation and promoting tissue regeneration. Next comes transdermal therapy, where an ampoule of retinol is applied to the face and smoothed in using a transdermal hand-piece.
The procedure has minimal downtime, and the visible results include improvements in smoothness, firmness, clarity and brightness of the skin. For the minority who have sensitive skin, there may be slight redness which disappears rapidly over time. The treatments are carried out at bi-monthly or monthly intervals – depending on the condition of the skin.
Should you or shouldn’t you? Do the following homework first!
Research your aesthetician
It’s recommended to consult with at least two or three cosmetic surgeons before choosing whom to trust your face with. Note down what each recommends and advises, and look for patterns and correlations in advice.
Check their certification
Make sure you’re happy with your chosen practice’s credentials. A simple Google search should reveal the reputation, qualifications and years of experience of most cosmetic doctors.
On pricing
Be wary of cheap options, and anything marketed as an offer or deal. Generally, a qualified aesthetician may charge a bit more, but you will benefit from his or her accuracy and expertise – this is your face we’re talking about here!
Prevention before cure
There is a trend for younger women (and men) to start Botox treatments before the onset of fine lines and wrinkles, in the hope of avoiding more heavy-duty options, like fillers, in the future.
