Telunas Resorts comprises two sister properties in Indonesia’s Riau Islands, south of Batam. Singapore- based TAMMY HENRY recently visited the more upscale Telunas Private Island with husband Rob and daughter Maeve.

What was your first impression of Telunas?

I felt like I’d finally made it to the Maldives without having to sell a kidney!

What were three things you liked most about your holiday there?

#1 The overwater villas: We were able to open all the doors and windows and have the fan on, while not getting savaged by mozzies or sandflies. #2 The staff: Nothing was too much trouble and they put together a beautiful birthday celebration for my daughter, which included a birthday cake and the entire resort singing “Happy Birthday”. #3 Having the pool, beach and bar so close together: Apart from it being super easy for me to chill out (especially as I had a fractured shoulder at the time), it meant that I could let my daughter roam free while knowing she was safe.

What did your child enjoy most about the stay?

Jumping off the jetty, making new friends and spending all day, every day at the pool or on the beach. And how could I not mention Roy, who amazed us with his magic tricks and even taught Maeve a few?

What was your happiest moment at Telunas?

Sitting out the back of the villa, watching the moon reflected in the sea – pure magic.
