We chose SJII for its friendly and caring school community. We both work, so initiatives where you can pop by for half an hour to be a Mystery Reader or attend a celebration of learning mean so much to the children. The Virtues Project was another big attraction as it focuses on recognising and rewarding positive behaviours and life skills in everyday life. The programme keeps the children grounded and teaches them to care about others. The school is incredibly consistent in this and it also helps us at home – especially with encouraging sibling harmony!

The boys love their trips to the library. Rosie enjoys project-based work, choir and representing the school in netball. A highlight of the year is Global Family Day; the children and staff dress in national costumes or colours of their flag – over 70 countries are represented, which is a real reflection of life in Singapore to me!

A WORD FROM THE SCHOOL

SJI International is a Lasallian Catholic school, welcoming students and families of all faiths. Set in a large green campus near Macritchie Reservoir Park, the Elementary School has 690 students and offers the International Primary Curriculum, including Singapore mathematics and daily Mandarin lessons. The High School’s 1,060 roll includes Singaporeans and nearly 40 other nationalities.

WHAT’S NEW?

The High School has recently launched Operation Green, an environment focused initiative led by the Grade 8 cohort. This project focuses on reducing the school’s environmental impact by reducing plastic use (we’re aiming for a plastic-free campus), improving recycling efforts; and reducing electricity consumption. 490 Thomson Road 6353 9383 sji-international.com.sg
