A teacher’s perspective Name: Sapna Sunder Role: Elementary teacher

I’ve been teaching at Stamford American for five years, specialising in incorporating various practices such as Brain Yoga, which aids in maximising the power of students’ minds and boosts overall wellness of the body.

The school has adapted an enquiry-based curriculum and the school’s Student Support Department offers much-needed assistance to those who need it. The CCA programmes such as drama, art, music as well as the field studies and athletics programmes are really robust and enriching for students. I love that as teachers we have the freedom and support to integrate technology, arts and crafts, and role-play into the core curriculum.

A WORD FROM THE SCHOOL

With an ethos for inspiring students to create their unique future, Stamford American is the only school in Singapore to offer the International Baccalaureate ( IB) combined with the American standards and Advanced Placement (AP). With over 40 IB and 19 AP courses available, students graduate with a minimum of a High School Diploma, with possibility of attaining an IB Diploma and AP International Diploma. With a diverse community of over 70 nationalities, the school offers daily Mandarin or Spanish from 18 months and Bilingual English/ Mandarin language from three years. Facilities include three swimming pools, two indoor sports arenas, a football field, two rock-climbing walls and a 500seat theatre with a 60sqm LED screen.

WHAT’S NEW?

Stamford hosts expert speaker panels every month. Experts from respective fields are invited to answer burning questions parents may have about the curriculum, various programmes in the school, and areas including innovation and technology. 1 Woodleigh Lane 6653 7907 | sais.edu.sg
