Blue House
Nursery & International Preschool
A teacher’s perspective Name: Aisling Oʻshea Role: Lead Educator
I have been teaching at Blue House Nursery for eight months and have been enjoying the sense of community and collaboration between the families, children, educators and specialists. I also love how we use inquiry-based learning; it’s so natural for children to learn this way, setting them up for life by giving them the confidence to express their thoughts and ideas. The school also has resident artists and an Atelierista (teacher of the arts) as part of the programme – this emphasis on art is really exciting for the children. Our location also offers an experience of outdoor learning, which is important for young people’s physical and mental well-being.
I enjoy watching the children’s thought processes in action and making discoveries with them. The most rewarding thing is the bond created with the children and their families, impacting their lives in one way or another.
A WORD FROM THE SCHOOL
Blue House Nursery & International Preschool is an early years specialist catering to children from 18 months to six years through a Reggio Emiliainspired Nursery, Preschool and Kindergarten programme. We offer a choice of two, three or five mornings per week, an Extended Day programme and optional classes run by specialist educators in music, art and Mandarin. Children are seen as capable, competent, curious and full of potential. We believe that a child’s desire to seek knowledge is ignited when immersed in an environment rich in resources, materials, beauty and inspiration. Our classrooms are designed as an extension of a child’s home environment. Children will also have time to spend outdoors, enjoying sensory experiences with nature and wildlife.
