White Lodge’s Musical Scene

It’s not just about clapping hands in a circle. These preschoolers are jamming … ... with Uncle Mo, their own musical resident who frequents all seven White Lodge centres to sings songs with the children alongside his guitar, harmonica and percussion instruments. The children learn songs that are topical and relevant to what they are learning in school. The teachers join in and sing along, which inspires the whole class to participate.

... at an annual end of year concert that celebrates the children’s performing arts talents. Last year, White Lodge showcased “The Rainbow Fish”, a tale of the adventures of an abandoned young rainbow fish who learns the importance of friendship, believing in oneself, celebrating differences and sharing similarities.

... with professional drummers at Drum Prodigy, where the children learn drumming techniques that promote strength, exercise and motor skills as well as turn taking and concentration. These lessons have been so successful at the East Coast branch that they are being rolled out across other White Lodge centres later this year.
