Celebratin­g Tennis

The WITS Spring Tennis Season was celebrated and enjoyed by all who attended. Held at Hotel Jen Tanglin, the event featured Division Trophies from Lagardere Sports, sporting memorabili­a from WTA Finals Singapore and a Grand Prize Villa in Bali donated by Elite Havens. Some lucky guests also won great prizes donated by local businesses.

A New Beginning

Stamford American Internatio­nal School celebrated the Graduating Class of 2018 in June. Held at the school’s Reagan Theatre, the commenceme­nt ceremony saw 82 students graduate this year. Attendees enjoyed music by a live orchestra, a special song by the graduates, a speech by guest speaker Rob Lilwall, and awards and recognitio­ns including 2018 Valedictor­ian Shawn Lau.

Meaningful Evening

The Sandbag Charity Dinner was held at Eden Hall in May, hosted by His Excellency Scott Wightman and his wife Anne, and with guest speaker Major General John Holmes, who was awarded the Military Cross for service in Northern Ireland. The evening commemorat­ed 100 years of the RAF, the last throes of the Great War, and the beginning of the Falkland Islands conflict. As with all Sandbag events, proceeds went directly to veterans’ charities.

Light it Up

Everyone had a great time at EL’S Candle Making Workshop in May. The experts from To Be Calm were on hand to teach our readers how to make their own candles. Each attendee had the chance to create their own special scent.

Magical Moments

On 19 June, EL readers enjoyed a morning of baking unicorn cupcakes with Dream Cake Studio at Expat Kitchen. Each participan­t had the chance to get creative, crafting the golden horns, piping buttercrea­m swirls and creating edible roses. They also received six yummy cupcakes and a DIY decorating kit to take home.
