Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard

- BY ANTHIA CHNG

If you’re looking for a home away from home for a week or more – perhaps you’re between leases, or on a “recce” to Singapore while considering a move here – a great option is a serviced suite. Located next to Somerset MRT station, Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard is ideal for couples and families who want a convenient and comfortable residence with all the facilities of a home. The property connects you directly to major shopping malls in Orchard – 313@Somerset, Orchard Gateway and Orchard Central – so you’ll find all you need. And should a sudden hankering for a midnight movie arise, hop over to Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, which is a mere five minutes away by foot.

WINE & DINE

With such a central location, the dining options are practically endless. During my recent stay, we visited Wildfire Burgers at 313@Somerset for dinner – the sweet potato fries and grilled portobello burger were delish! – and then journeyed to Haji Lane by MRT for a round of drinks. For a wider and more affordable range of dishes, there’s also a food court on the fifth level, and plenty of nibbles on the basement level.

An in-house daily breakfast is served at the Pacific Lounge (Level 2) every day from 6am to 10.30am (except Sundays and public holidays). The early breakfast works well for business travellers to grab a quick bite before heading to the office. Kids will also be pleased with options like mini pastries, cereals and yoghurt. Our favourites were the made-to-order dishes, including eggs benedict, smoked salmon bagels and waffles.

Located next to the pool, the lounge is a relaxing, openconcept space that’s perfect for slow Saturday mornings; we spent a good couple of hours draped on the sofas and flipping through magazines on the table.

RELAX AND UNWIND

A highlight at the property is the hydro-therapeutic spa on Level 2. Featuring a rain shower, hot pool, warm pool, stone walk and steam room, the self-service, five-stage spa promises an hour-long rejuvenation and respite. You can also choose to while away the afternoon at the 35-metre ionised swimming pool, or visit the fitness centre for a stress-relieving sweat-sesh.

THE ROOMS

The 126 suites boast spacious living areas, modern home entertainment systems and contemporary décor. Rooms start from $360 a night for a minimum six-night stay; we stayed in a one-bedroom premium suite (from $385 a night): a 64-squaremetre space with a fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, and two Smart televisions. There’s also a washing-machineand-dryer-in-one, which is super helpful for longer stays. Daily housekeeping service is included (except Sundays and public holidays), plus you can get your choice of daily newspaper delivered every morning. Essentially, you have all you need for a comfortable stay; our overnight experience was spotless.
