Setting: Situated in a restored heritage building on Club Street, this Japanese-italian restaurant is charming and elegant, with an intimate atmosphere that’s great for sharing a special meal with family and friends. Spread: From 18 to 25 December, executive chef Masanao Saito is serving up a special four-course menu ($69 per person, or add an additional $26 for wine pairing) that showcases his favourite creations, which combine the finesse of Japanese flavours with the comfort of Italian cuisine. Kick things off with yuzu-marinated foie gras terrine with black fig and Okinawa spinach drizzled with aged balsamic to start, followed by porcini risotto with maitake and shiitake mushrooms. For mains, guests can choose from a lamb rack with cauliflower puree and a rosemary and eggplant caviar, or black cod on cauliflower puree with cioppino sauce and dill oil, before rounding off the meal with Chef Masanao’s spin on the traditional Italian dessert, montebianco with chestnuts, sprinkled with chocolate and white chocolate powder.
