WHAT I HAD: Personalised massage ($165, 60 minutes) and C2 signature facial ($300, 60 minutes)

MY THOUGHTS: Strategically tucked in a quiet end on the fifth floor of Grand Hyatt Singapore, Damai Spa offers a much-needed respite to city dwellers. The luxurious spa hosts 11 spacious treatment rooms, including a couple’s room. All rooms have an en-suite toilet with shower facilities and a heated toilet bowl. (I’d underestimated how comfortable this was!)

You’re recommended to arrive a few hours before your appointment to check out the spa. I headed straight to the outdoor pool – open to both hotel and spa guests – for a quick dip and tan. It felt like I’d left the city for a bit! Don’t forget to take full advantage of the facilities within the spa, too; I really enjoyed the jacuzzi and cold pool.

After a consultation and sensory test to determine my aromatherapy blend, we started with a foot wash and scrub to set the mood. Damai has recently launched four new Signature Blends to target different problems. My chosen scent is “Healing”: a cajeput, clove and rosemary blend for soothing tired muscles. Want something more relaxing? Opt for a light massage pressure and “Calm”, a patchouli, lavender and ylang ylang blend. The massage was one of the best I’ve ever had. I dozed off for the most part, and woke up completely rejuvenated. Best feeling ever! Request for my massage therapist Nina – she has magical hands!

Botanically-based brand Kerstin Florian is used for the facials here. Although the C2 signature facial is meant for anti-ageing, my therapist swapped out certain products to cater to my sensitive and combinationtype skin. A couple of rounds of facial massages and a decadent caviar mask later, my visage is visibly glowy and lifted.
