New & Noteworthy: Medical updates, expert advice and more

Did you know that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the largest manageable cause of ill health and death in the modern world? It accounts for 31 percent of all global deaths; of these, 85 percent are attributed to heart attack and stroke, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). This scary-but-true statistic means many people don’t realise the benefits of a holistic approach to health. Sure, you may walk every day but without proper nutrition or regular health screenings, there’s no telling what your heart will do.

For this reason, UFIT – a leading fitness community here in Singapore for the past decade – has introduced health and performance screening services. These now form part of its integrated health and fitness offerings, which include access to nutrition support, health coaching, personal training, physiotherapy, rehab, sports medicine and more, all in one place.

The new UFIT Health Screen provides assessments of each client’s current health status and helps identify opportunities to improve their wellbeing. It’s an important step that clients can take in order to assess and minimise their risk of developing CVD and other diseases, along with any potential for injury. Also available is UFIT Performance Testing, which helps in creating individualised training “prescriptions” based on each client’s physiology.

Both of these screening tests can be conducted at any of UFIT’s three Hub locations (Club Street in the CBD, Orchard Road and One-North) by screening manager Stuart Bauld. To make an enquiry, visit ufit.com.sg.
