Save the Elephants

Meliá Koh Samui has provided land for a community farm to help feed rescue elephants. Located 200 metres from the hotel, the farm has 200 banana trees and additional fodder such as napier and sweet grass. The farm was formed in response to Samui Elephant Haven’s struggles to feed its elephants due to reduced tourist numbers. To educate guests about the elephants and encourage them to support Samui Elephant Haven, the hotel has created a mascot, Coco, to provide info and be a host for educational activities about elephants at the resort’s kids club. melia.com

Cabin Fever

Everyone’s missing travel, but it seems Singapore might be missing it the most! Expedia’s 2020 Vacation Deprivation Study has ranked us as the most vacationdeprived place in the world. While all countries showed higher numbers in the study from the previous year (thanks for nothing, pandemic!), Singapore topped the list, with 71 percent of those surveyed saying they felt “very” or “somewhat” deprived of vacations last year. Still, think of how excited that means we’ll all be when we’re on the move again!
