Fashion Finds: Versatile wrap dresses for all sizes

Whether you’re a size S, M, L or XL, or a size “in between”, these dresses have you covered … especially if you’re a size in between!

Anna Rainn is an old favourite of Expat Living, and I think there’s nothing easier to wear and more flattering than a good wrap dress! This Singapore fashion brand is focused on empowering real women, busy women, multi-faceted women and women who want to look good living their 24/7 lifestyles. The philosophy, fabrics and styles are all geared to this one end, to “Look Good, Do Good and Feel Good”.

Many of the dresses are great for working women. Equally, the brand sports a wide selection of casual, leisure and evening wear. All you need is a smile and a good dress (a bit of makeup, too, if you like) and you’re set to conquer the world!

As women, we need to own our curves, and wear clothing we feel comfortable in and which flatters our figures.

ANUPAMA SINGAL is a tech and fashion entrepreneur and the owner of the Anna Rainn brand. She’s passionate about body positivity amongst women, too. In her view, too many women have self-limiting beliefs about their bodies, carrying notions of how a particular body part isn’t perfect or is disproportionate in some way. Anupama believes in working with people of all shapes and sizes to break down their personal stereotypes.

Some key pointers from Anupama:

Celebrate your curves – stop self-criticism!

Each Anna Rainn garment has been designed to handle the issues women most complain about. Here are a few features that help:

• Tummy bulge? Ruched sides on dresses

• Flabby arms? Short- and long-sleeved options to help cover up

• Thighs? Anna Rainn dresses provide good coverage in the overlap for those unexpected gusts of wind or awkward seating positions! • Not a size 10? (Who is nowadays?) Flexible sizing, well-fitted designs and stretchable fabrics ensure any unsightly lumps and bumps are banished

If you’ve got it, you may as well flaunt it!

Most importantly, at Anna Rainn the emphasis is always on trying to identify your best features to flaunt – generous curves and all! A core aspect of the brand is its catch-cry of “Real Women, Real Fashion!”; it’s why customers happily share pictures of themselves looking fabulous in their Anna Rainns.

Uncreased through rain or shine (or COVID-19!)

Many of us are used to travelling a lot, whether for work or with family. Anna Rainn dresses have always been easy to pack, emerging from the suitcase at the other end both crease-free and ready to wear. While the pandemic has seen us home-bound and segregated in many ways from the world at large, we have, at the same time, all learnt new skills. As Anupama notes, many customers have continued to dress up for video calls and online meetings, not wanting to compromise on their professional images, even while taking home management, home schooling and work-from-home in their stride.

Look Good, Do Good and Feel Good

Anna Rainn clothing is primarily “Made in Singapore” and manufactured ethically, with a lot of care and high-quality materials that last for years. My daughter is wearing some of the ones I have outgrown, and they must be at least 10 years old. Also, with every purchase, the brand contributes to Urban Health Resource Centre, a non-profit that helps uplift economically disadvantaged families and children through education.

So, if you’re wanting comfortable, easy-care and easy-wear clothing to make you look and feel better, and you want to make a difference as you indulge yourself, take a look! You can buy online with free returns, or pop into the store by appointment.
