Tone & Tighten

- BY ANTHIA CHNG

You’re exercising religiously, eating well and getting enough rest. So, why is it that your body goals still seem out of reach? If you’ve been trying to get in shape for some time, it can be tempting to throw in the towel when you’re not getting the results you’re after. For a long-term solution, consider a medical aesthetic “gym” like Cutis Medical Gym, a subset of Cutis Medical Laser Clinics. What is Cutis Medical Gym?

It’s an extended medical gym subscription plan for targeting and treating different areas of the body. It grants you access to a range of US FDA-cleared and CE-marked, non-invasive body-shaping devices for multiple benefits. These can include stubborn fat burning, muscle building, skin tightening and cellulite reduction. The team at Cutis combines healthy lifestyle habits when using these tools, helping you to attain your body goals faster and more effectively.

How is it different from regular gyms?

Cutis Medical Gym is not your typical gym. Instead of fitness equipment, the team uses bodycontouring devices that employ advanced modalities like cooling, heating and electromagnetic energy. These can help each patient to reduce their body circumference, remove bulges in problem areas, as well as tone and shape their body without the need for incisions, needles, anaesthesia or downtime.

What are some of the machines available?

The BTL Vanquish ME helps to reduce abdomen, flank and thigh circumference using radiofrequency heating. Or, for textural concerns such as cellulite and stretch marks, there is the BTL Exilis Ultra 360 and BTL X-Wave. The latter uses mechanical energy to induce targeted vibrations in the connective tissue, which initiates physiological processes like blood circulation and waste elimination.

ThermoSculpt has treatment protocols that involve fat reduction and muscle stimulation using what’s known as diathermocontraction (diathermy and faradic muscle contraction), while CoolSculpting and ZLipo permanently kill fat cells via fat freezing, reducing stubborn fat in the chin, arms, belly and thighs.

What’s the Cutis approach?

The team believes that combination treatments offer the best possible outcomes for patients. Their subscription-based approach combines all available body treatments, with a view to focusing on what each patient needs instead of being restricted to a singular modality.

Generally, the recommendation is one treatment once or twice a week for a period of three, six or 12 months. The cost ranges from $181 to $248 per session, depending on the frequency and type of treatment. Cutis Medical Gym offers personalised membership plans across different ages and fitness levels. Subscriptions that exceed 20 sessions can also be combined with a friend.
