The Superlatives

-

What are your three favourite places to eat or drink in the neighbourhood?

There is a Privé a short walk away at Keppel Island, which is popular with children since it has a mini pirate ship in the middle of the restaurant; the meatless meatballs are a hit with my daughter. Then there’s a hawker centre called Seah Im, which is a 10-minute walk away and does a great char kway teow and chicken rice. And there is Brotzeit at VivoCity, which is fantastic if you’ve got a meat craving or fancy a couple of German beers.

What are the best places to shop at in the neighbourhood?

VivoCity is the second largest mall after Changi Airport, so we’re spoilt for choice – it has a Marks & Spencer food hall and FairPrice Xtra, and there is a Cold Storage at HarbourFront. For high-end fashion I would have to say the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands or Orchard Road.

What are some fun or interesting things to do in the neighbourhood?

Go for an evening RHIB (used by the military and rescue departments) boat ride around the coast of Singapore departing from Keppel Marina, or take a stroll around Labrador Park’s many nature trails or do a spot of fishing at the jetty. Enjoy a walk to Harbour Towers and take the cable car either to Sentosa for some thrill-seeking adventures or to Mount Faber to explore the Henderson Waves trail as you make your way back home.

What’s one thing you’d never change?

The waterways, laguna and the pool; I just love being surrounded by water.

How about one thing you would change?

It would be handy if the MRT were a bit closer and if there were more cafés around.

If the city gave you a million dollars to soup up your street, how would you use it?

It would be nice to have a wine bar on the street where all the locals could go and socialise.
