New Kids on the Block
The Singapore Zoo has welcomed two young Rothschild’s giraffes from India’s Mysuru Zoo. Balaji and Adhil arrived in May after travelling 22 hours interstate by road and seven days by sea, together with two experienced animal caretakers from Wildlife Reserves Singapore. After a three-month quarantine, the two brothers have settled into their new habitat together with Jubilee, who has slipped into a big brother role to the younger giraffes. The duo is the latest addition to the zoo’s managed programme of this threatened subspecies of giraffes. Visitors can meet them at the Wild Africa zone. wrs.com.sg
