In this month’s column, we ask NMITA DOAK, founder of makeup brand Amplio, about the leading trends for 2022.

We’re currently moving away from the heavy foundations and smoky eyes to a more “au naturel” look for spring – think fresh-looking skin, natural brows, flushed cheeks, nude lips, translucent shadows, gloss and pops of colour.

Impeccable skin is the best canvas for any makeup look, so keep it light and translucent to make any bronze, peach or rose blush colour look fresh but sophisticated. A must-have in your goodie bag is Amplio 3-in-1 Cream Blush; it takes me less than three minutes to create this look. Pair it with a natural brow – gone are the thicker, perfectly shaped brows. Gently fill them in with your angle definer brush using a powder to match. I personally love the browns from the Amplio Tropical Singapore Palette. Fantastic for the humid climate, it looks soft and gently bakes into your skin, making it last all day.

Let the lips do the talking! I’m seeing some gorgeous trends such as the ombre nude lip. Apply a Naughty Nude Lip Stylo to fill in the whole lip and then add some Dusty Rose Lipstay to the centre to create that natural gradient. Love it or hate it, the gloss is back! I always carry a gloss and apply it quickly when I take off my face mask. Check out the Amplio Lipluscious range for some natural plumping with a tasty hint of mint.

Finally, go for pops of colour. Play in the purple colour spectrum this spring/ summer. Dual tones such as mauve and lilac can create a fantastic two-tone eyelid. I adore the colours in the Amplio Sands of Dubai Palette for this. Remember, keep it light, fresh and have fun with it.
