How can injectables help?

While a slew of beauty products can help in plumping, tightening and cleansing our skin, sometimes a little help from an injectable is needed. Here are six aesthetic clinics for your consideration if you’re looking to iron out some creases, or lift or con

The Belle Clinic

The treatments: Baby Botox & Fillers

“Baby Botox” is a treatment that employs smaller doses of Botox in each injection. It can involve more injection points, but since only micro-doses are used, it allows for a more natural-looking result, softening wrinkles while still allowing some facial movement and expression, which traditional Botox blocks.

This helps prevent the infamous “frozen forehead” look as it still allows the muscles to be animated, leading to a smoother, fresher, younger and also natural-looking face. What’s more, it’s a great preventative treatment for younger patients who don’t have deep wrinkles yet but who want to prevent over-activity of muscles that are resulting in early forehead lines and crow’s feet. Baby Botox has the added benefit of helping in reducing the appearance of enlarged pores and inhibiting oil production.

The Belle Clinic also uses fillers to fill deep creases and lines that have resulted from loss of collagen and elasticity in the skin, and to increase volume where it has been lost. They feel that both fillers and neuromodulators (like Botox) have a role to play in a three-dimensional approach to rejuvenation and achieving a younger, fresher look.

Since everyone has their own individual concerns, the clinic undertakes a detailed consultation with each patient to ensure that their aesthetic goal is understood and aligned with the appropriate treatment and technique.

Prices are transparent and based on the amount of product used – they start from $250.

Mendis Aesthetics

The treatments: Profhilo & Rejuran

Profhilo is an anti-ageing skin injectable treatment that delivers hyaluronic acid to all the layers of the skin, providing it with excellent hydration. It also triggers natural collagen and elastin production to improve skin elasticity. Due to its smooth consistency, it spreads out evenly within the skin layer without causing any lumps.

The face, neck, décolletage (chest) and hands are the places where you can use Profhilo to firm, tighten and lift skin with minimal pain and downtime.

Rejuran, on the other hand, combats issues such as dark eye circles, enlarged pores, skin sagging, dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and stretch marks by biologically increasing the metabolic activity of cells in the skin (fibroblasts) and stimulating them to regenerate key components of the skin. During your session, topical numbing cream is applied on the skin for 20 minutes, before a fine needle is used to administer tiny amounts of Rejuran Healer under the skin. It can take up to four weeks to see initial results, but you should definitely notice a gradual improvement in skin elasticity, hydration and texture. #04-17 Mandarin Gallery, 333A Orchard Road

Aesthetic Studio Clinic & Surgery

The treatments: Injectables

Aesthetic doctor and consultant surgeon Dr Jonathan Lee of the Aesthetic Studio thinks injectables are science’s greatest gift to aesthetic medicine. Indeed, a lot of conditions that were once treated with surgery can now be resolved safely with non-invasive and minimally invasive techniques.

Dr Lee feels that using injectables is really a meeting of art and science; it’s about having an appreciation for a person’s unique features and knowing where to position things to draw them out – plus knowing your tools well so you make the best choice from a palette of options. Constant innovation in this space means that patients have increased choices to therapeutically improve their appearance. If the correct injectable has been chosen for the job, and at the right depth, all that should be noticed is that you look better.

Opening up the eyes is a good place to start. Lifting the brow and smoothing fine lines with Botox is the foundation of rejuvenation with injectables. Dr Lee prefers to start at the top of the face and work down over time. Ageing goes hand in hand with gravity, he says, so altering things on the upper third of the face first helps indicate what should be done on the middle and lower thirds. This leads to a more harmonious look. Special offer: Quote “Expat Living” and get an Upper Face Botox and Filler treatment for $1,388.

Skinscape Clinic

The treatment: Liquid Facelift

The aim of a liquid facelift is to refresh your facial features. If it’s done by an expert who respects your natural facial anatomy, you won’t look “done”, but rather you’ll simply regain a more youthful visage without anyone suspecting anything at all!

Skinscape Clinic’s Liquid Facelift treatment is done with a combination of premium dermal fillers ($880 per syringe) and Botox injections ($15 per unit). Dermal fillers are injected strategically to enhance natural contours or restore volume and definition lost with age.

Each treatment at Skinscape is highly personalised; the doctor will begin with a detailed assessment of your face and an understanding of your aesthetic preferences. The procedure takes less than an hour, after which the results are instantly visible.

Liquid Facelift is ideal if you want to naturally look younger without resorting to invasive cosmetic procedures.

Laser Clinics Asia

The treatments: Botox & Fillers

Laser Clinics Asia says that Botox is one of the best ways to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles for all ages; they see many people starting the treatment in their 20s or early 30s as it offers a way to significantly rejuvenate the skin.

The effects last approximately three to six months. At that time, things will start to wear off, and you’ll notice a very gradual fading of the effects. Just schedule a new appointment to renew your injections when you feel it’s time to top them up. The Laser Clinics Asia team says you’ll only need two to four sessions each year to make this treatment an ongoing part of your anti-ageing regimen.

Key areas where they use Botox for lines and wrinkles are the forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet, nasal lines and upper lip. It also helps soften chin dents, platysma bands (strips of muscle on the sides of your neck), bunny lines (the sides of your nose) and marionette lines (either side of the mouth). Botox can be used to lift the brows, and combat excessive sweating under the arms, or on the palms or feet too!

W Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

The treatments: Botox & Fillers

Botox and fillers are two of the commonest non-invasive treatments performed today; Botox relaxes tense facial muscles whereas fillers work by providing volume replacement or even augmentation for areas of the face that have deflated with age. Dr Wong Chin Ho of W Aesthetic Plastic Surgery works to harness the full potential of both treatments at the same time to deliver effective and natural rejuvenation of the face.

At W Aesthetic, the use of these modalities is viewed as an art; with considered application, a range of desired effects may be achieved. For example, Botox can be used to lift the brow by selectively relaxing the muscles that bring the brow down while leaving the muscle that elevates the brow active. Additionally, it may be used to slim the lower face by relaxing the muscle that has become slightly prominent from too rigorous chewing or clenching of the jaw; this last application is also very useful for patients who grind their teeth in their sleep.

The use of fillers has advanced way beyond the filling of wrinkles or skin creases. Today, they can be used to augment areas of the facial skeleton that are weak in order to support and project the tissues more selectively to achieve a more beautiful contour of the face – for example, in the nose, cheeks or chin. The fillers used by Dr Wong are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a chemical compound that is found in our bodies. It’s safe and can be digested by the body over time.

Dermstetiq

The treatment: Xeomin

Targeting glabellar lines (frown lines), crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, “bunny lines” and the masseter muscle (jawline slimming), Xeomin can smooth out wrinkles by working on the muscles that cause dynamic lines. It’s approved for therapeutic and cosmetic indications in Singapore and can be applied every three to six months.

Unlike other neurotoxin preparations, Xeomin doesn’t contain any complexing proteins, making it the only purified botulinum neurotoxin Type A formulation; this is achieved through a state-of-the-art purification process in its manufacturing. Xeomin contains a “naked” form of botulinum toxin; unlike Botox, it’s designed to deliver the toxin without any protein additives.

Best of all, it’s suitable for long-term use without the issue of resistance; results from the first long-term repeat-dosing study of Xeomin showed early onset of action and sustained action over a long period.
