ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR

ART PERFORMANCES

The Affordable Art Fair is always a whirlwind of activity. It could be anything from street artists doing a live demonstration, dancers catching the imagination of the crowd with their performance art or installation that switches on even more of your senses, such as with the Edible Art Movement who based an array of aromas on such paintings as Dali’s Lobster Telephone, Manet’s Le Dejeuner Sur L’Herbe and Da Vinci’s Last Supper.

ARTIST TALKS

The Affordable Art Fair gives you the chance to find out more about the art world too. Throughout the event it offers numerous talks, which can cover anything from the history of art, young guns to look out for as well as tips on how to make your next purchase.

UNDER $1,000 WALL

If you’re determined to stick to your budget and not leave your bank manager in a cold sweat, you can go straight to the Under $1,000 wall. This highlights a selection of the artworks selling at less than $1,000 at the fair. An economical timesaver—now no one can argue with that.

YOUNG TALENT PROGRAMME

Each year eight young artists are selected to exhibit their work at the Affordable Art Fair. And if that’s not enough, they could also win the chance to hold a solo exhibition at ION Art. The Young Talent Programme is a significant platform for young artists below the age of 35 who were born or are residents in Southeast Asia. And it gives them the chance to be spotted by galleries, art institutions and be introduced to the art-loving public.

INSTALLATION PROGRAMME

Want a talking piece for your home? Then pay close attention to the mind boggling installation programme. You’ll find the works of numerous talented sculptures scattered throughout the fair. Previous works have included Nicola Anthony’s Dream Catcher, that has elements of her birth country of England and her new home in Southeast Asia, P Gnana’s work Incarnation that shows how mundance everyday objects can be a thing of beauty, as well as Stefanie Hauger’s humorous installations from her Microphrase Me! collection. The Affordable Art Fair is located at the F1 Pit Building, 1 Republic Boulevard. Prices for Single Entry Ticket, from $12; Group package (four adults), from $40; Concession $8 and Children Under 16, free entry
