Magpies, rejoice: There’s a candy foil wrapper quality to all the glitter and sparkle this season; it was particular­ly illuminati­ng to see how brands filled the collection­s with so much metallic shine. Silver tones with a Space Age spirit lifted off from Chanel’s runway (life-sized rocket included), while Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière engineered a shiny dress that looked as if it came from a wardrobe of the future. Other designers dazzled by simply going ultra sleek: Donatella Versace showed the trend doesn’t always have to look pretty by fashioning a killer number with enough wattage to light up the night sky.
