Mido celebrates a hundred years of Swiss watchmaking tradition and expertise by paying homage to one of its most iconic timepieces
In 1918, Georges Schaeren founded Mido G. Schaeren & Co. AG watch factory in the Swiss town of Solothurn, building his brand on the foundations of timeless design, quality materials and technical innovation. A century later, those same values continue to drive the brand—a philosophy perfectly expressed by the latest update of one of its most recognisable timepieces, the Commander. First launched in 1959, its streamlined distinct round steel case, have ensured it stood the test of time. Available in steel with a black and gold PVD with a warm sepia-toned graduated dial, the new Commander Shade is an almostidentical reissue: Exuding the same sentimental, vintage charm as a beloved heirloom, the elegant round monocoque case offers a wide opening onto sensuality with comfort. Fitted with a sophisticated and reliable automatic movement, it’s the perfect tribute to the ’70s spirit of the original model, updated for the modern style-conscious watch lover.
