LOUIS VUITTON

-

Nicolas Ghesquière transported everyone to the Fondation Maeght, a modern art museum situated high on the hills of Saint-Paul de Vence, France, for Louis Vuitton’s latest cruise show.“I’ve known this place for 25 years. It’s an intelligent, beautiful site. A place that has spirit, installations have a special rapport with nature and the seasons,” explained Ghesquière, who sought to recreate that connection in his latest cruise outing for the Maison. The designer is known for giving fashion an intellectual, retro-meetsfuturistic touch, and his leanings turned up in a collection filled with ’80s architectural shoulders and sculptural ruffles. The models, some sporting a flame motif painted between their brows, wore an eclectic mélange of sharply tailored boxy jackets, flowing Grecian gowns and thigh-high sneaker-boot hybrids. A denim jacket featured an abstract print that paid homage to the Fondation. Bloomers in the softest silks that peeked from under dramatic feathered tops gave Ghesquière’s collection its sensual spin.
