Even in the unlikely case that you’ve never heard of Marco Pierre White, the British chef and restaurate­ur who has mentored the likes of Gordon Ramsay, the name of his restaurant-hotel is self-explanator­y. The English House—which is his first foray into the local (and Asian) dining scene—serves up elevated British comfort foods such as Fried Fillet of English Turbot, Lamb Shepherd’s Pie and Champagne Poached Pear. The name is also reflected in the furnishing­s: All of the fixtures were brought over from England, from lamps to door handles and even shelves, with many of the artworks sourced from White’s personal collection.
