TOP IT OFF

-

Take smart layering up a notch with the versatile vest or waistcoat. Once solely part of a three-piece suit for men, it has since been reimagined for women in all manner of styles, prints, colours and fabrics. Keep it chic and sleek as at Hermès, where a crisp white tailored version was worn as a top and paired with relaxed-fit trousers. Or pay tribute to the label you love with a logo- or letters-emblazoned vest—like at Chanel, teamed with a shorts suit for a breezy, classy-casual feel. For tough-edged femininity, look to Dior, which grounded a flowy maxi dress with a leather vest for a hit of rebellion. As for the wild and carefree, take your cue from Dolce&Gabbana, whose loud printed number was thrown over a classic white tee and matching bottoms, topped with gilded jewellery for a finishing touch. And when the lights go down, do like Giorgio Armani with a fully sequinned design worn over a sheer, shimmery black dress for a double dose of glamour. ■
