MOOR HALL, LANCASHIRE
With a team led by the talented chef patron Mark Birchall, the restaurant at Moor Hall (moorhall. com), set in a restored Jacobean manor house about 16km from Liverpool, is the proud holder of two Michelin stars and five AA Rosettes. The glass-fronted dining-room affords gourmands views of the lawn and the lake beyond while they feast on an eight-course dinner featuring house-cured meats, and vegetables, herbs and edible flowers grown in the kitchen garden. Afterwards, you can just roll to bed in one of seven spacious guest rooms, where you’ll find beamed ceilings, original fireplaces and slipper baths.
