Some choice quips: “Why don’t you rinse your blond child’s hair in dead champagne to keep it gold, as they do in France?” and “Why don’t you turn your old ermine coat into a bathrobe?” They encapsulat­ed her utterly irreverent, original worldview and the inimitable energy she brought to the pages of Harper’s BAZAAR— a legacy that lives on till today.
