COCO’S CRUSH
“Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto” as the name suggests, will feature over 200 designs by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel from her first boutique in 1910 to her final collection in 1971. The heritage collections of the French Maison will be on display. Among these will be the earliest surviving Chanel garments from 1916, as well as The Suit, which defined her post-war contribution to fashion. Highlighting her pioneering approach to design that has shaped the way women dress today from silhouettes to styles to fabrics, each of the 10-themed sections will capture the impact Chanel has left in the industry. The exhibition in London’s Victoria and Albert museum runs from now till 25 February 2024.
