MAKE A STATEMENT
My sister, who is in her 30s, has never owned a smartphone. She still carries an old candy-bar phone that used to be popular more than a decade ago, and she isn’t on Facebook or Instagram. Call her a “dinosaur”, but offers to get her a new phone have always been met with a wry comeback: “A phone is a phone is a phone. Do I really need to check e-mails or surf the net on the go? Do I really need to be part of the herd?”
I suppose she’s right. And honestly, I think she’s pretty cool for bucking the trend – much like the women featured in Singapore’s Extreme Statement-makers (page 304).
