THE BEAUTY FILES

For most of us, the quest for healthy and radiant skin is not problem-free. That was true for these three women – until they tried the customised plant-based treatments at The Skin Botanique.

HER ISSUES: FRECKLES, HYPERPIGMENTATION, OILY SKIN Freckles are common among those with fair skin, and Katriona, who goes by Katy, has had her fair share. These spots on her cheeks, nose and arms didn’t bother her until they multiplied, became darker and more apparent over the years. It did not help that her job requires her to be in the sun for long hours, even more so after she relocated to Singapore from Australia. This aggravated her hyperpigmentation, and her skin looked visibly patchy with an uneven tone. It also became oilier due to the tropical weather, causing her pores to become clogged, resulting in frequent breakouts. THE TREATMENT Charles focused on spot reduction and worked at unclogging Katy’s pores to reduce sebaceous activity and recurring acne. He put Katy through biweekly sessions of Botanical Photothermolysis for the rst month, and monthly sessions after. According to Charles, the low-uency light and heat energy lightens melanin cells at affected areas and targets the acne-causing bacteria porphyrin without causing swelling or in ammation. Katy was also given plant-based skincare products to use at home, including the Clarifying Formula to reduce sebaceous activity and manage acne on the areas of her face prone to breakouts. To protect her skin from further damage due to exposure to harmful UV rays, she was also given the Ultra-light Sunscreen to try. THE RESULTS After the rst session, Katy noticed that the pigmentation on her face was visibly lighter. Her skin was also substantially less oily and her acne had subsided. Says Katy: “My ance and friends were really surprised at my new-found clear, smooth and healthy skin.”
