Don’t be defensive, but don’t listen in silence either while your boss dishes out bad feedback. Ask questions so you know where you went wrong. If your boss says that you didn’t meet your targets or that you didn’t contribute much to the team, ask questions like: “When you say that I fell short of your expectations, what do you mean exactly? Can you give me examples or tell me what you’ve noticed?”
