SAY YES TO OIL

It just might work better than your usual moisturiser. By CARINA KOH

Facial oils are a simple and efficient way to hydrate dry skin quickly. Why? They are lipophilic (this means they dissolve in lipids or fats), so they can easily penetrate the surface layers of the skin, which have lipids, and get absorbed quickly.

Earning our stamp of approval is SK-II Facial Treatment Oil ($205), the brand’s rst facial oil. In addition to its famous Pitera, which is chockfull of vitamins and minerals to brighten skin, rene its texture and protect it from external aggressors such as pollution, the oil is formulated with a blend of six oils – olive, jojoba, avocado, rice bran, rice sterol (derived from rice bran oil) and squalene – to intensely hydrate skin.

Add to that a subtle, calming lavender scent and a non-sticky, satinlike nish that works perfectly under foundation, and we’re sold.

Yves Saint Laurent Beaute Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-stick Lipstick in #45 Rouge Tuxedo, $50.

RMK Lip Jelly Gloss in EX-03 Vivid Pink, $36.

Want supple lips and a sparkling nish? This shimmery fuchsia lip gloss with a moisturising gel formula is your go-to. It looks scary bright in the tube, but goes on sheer – making it great for wearing on its own, or for layering over a bright lipstick. What I like most about it is its spatula applicator, which has a pointed tip that makes it so easy to create the perfect Cupid’s bow.

Sulwhasoo Essential Lip Serum Stick in #02 Blossom Serum, $50.
