It’s no secret that the human body has an incredible capacity to heal itself after an illness or injury. Stem cells play a key role in the process, and those under the skin are particularly essential for skin repair and regeneration.

According to the skincare brand, its parent company, Japanese technology rm Fujilm, is an expert in stem-cell research and has successfully regenerated stem cells from cells derived from skin. It’s also the only company approved to use these for regenerative medicine in Japan.* The brand used this knowledge as the basis for its latest product, In-Focus Cellactive Serum ($222 for 30ml).
This serum contains two proprietary nano-ingredients – Nano Astaxanthin CP+ and Nano Boswellin Acid so they can be absorbed into skin deeply and quickly. Together, they are designed to work together to make stem cells act younger. Nano Astaxanthin CP+ is a combination of antioxidants that is said to repair UV damage and prevent cellular DNA damage. Nano Boswellin Acid is extracted from boswellia serrata, a shrub that supposedly “switches on” the skin’s ability to heal and regenerate itself.
A VEIL OF COMFORT
ASTALIFT doesn’t conne its hightech research to effective ingredients. It has also developed innovative ways of delivering those ingredients. The serum is part water, part oil. On rst application, this sheer and lightweight gel melts into liquid to optimise absorption. After it has dried, the light oil continues to moisturise skin through the day. The nal touch? The fragrance develops like a ne perfume: top notes of bergamot, middle notes of jasmine, rose and magnolia, and, nally, base notes of sandalwood and amber that lift the mood all day long.
