THE LO­CAL APP THAT CON­NECTS SHOP­PERS TO RE­TaIL­ERS

Cre­ated by Ger­man en­tre­pre­neur Thorsten Wal­ter and Sin­ga­pore’s woman-about-town Judy Hunt, In­spify also aims to be the app for fash­ion styling, in­spi­ra­tions and shar­ing.

In­spify also helps you style and share.

It started as an idea to bring lo­cal shop­pers to lo­cal brickand-mor­tars – be­cause the lat­ter clearly need all the help they can get. But by the time In­spify soft-launched in De­cem­ber last year, it had be­come more than that, pro­vid­ing a plat­form for round-the-clock fash­ion in­spi­ra­tions and 24/7 styling ideas.

“In­spify is a whole ecosys­tem – a plat­form where you can find fash­ion in­spi­ra­tion, have fun and con­nect with friends while you are do­ing it, and of course, also shop for items,” says Walther, 46, an ex-banker and a start-up en­thu­si­ast.

So how does it work af­ter you sign up?

• Start shop­ping – In­spify part­ners with 60 fash­ion brands (in­clud­ing Prada and Gucci) and 12 mag­a­zine ti­tles (so far) for cu­rated In­sta­gram posts and ed­i­to­rial con­tent on its home­page. If you like an item you see, two clicks will lead you to ev­ery­thing you need to know about it, from its price and what other colours/sizes it comes in, to which lo­cal store has it now. The app will even re­serve the item on be­half of the store for you.

• Earn re­wards – 2 per cent of the cost of any item paid via the app will be cred­ited back to you, and can be used to off­set fu­ture pur­chases.

• Put to­gether look­books,

tag prod­ucts – now, who doesn’t want that?

• Add friends –a mes­sag­ing func­tion al­lows you to share and dis­cuss prod­ucts with your friends.

• Find stuff for you – just spot­ted a cool bag on a cool stranger in an art gallery? Snap a photo of the bag and up­load it to In­spify, and the app’s state-of-theart ob­ject-recog­ni­tion tool will im­me­di­ately pro­vide all the info if the bag is avail­able in Sin­ga­pore. If it’s not, it will of­fer sim­i­lar al­ter­na­tives, and you can see how that prod­uct is styled in In­sta­gram posts and mag­a­zine ar­ti­cles.

In­spify’s CCO Judy Hunt (she was the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of PR agency Direc­tions) has a back­ground in fash­ion and fine arts. In­spify is CEO Thorsten Walther’s third start-up. He has lived in Sin­ga­pore for five years and has been into soft­ware de­vel­op­ment since he was 12.
