Use Algorithms to Develop Your MUSIC TASTE

Herworld (Singapore) - - MUSIC -

Let’s start with some basic training. First, vow to never again watch The

Voice. Second, purchase decent Bluetooth headphones or a speaker, and splash some minimal monthly cash on a music streaming subscription. Seek out an algorithm-based music streaming service like Spotify, Apple Music, or the new kid in town, Deezer (enjoying some good buzz).

Once in, hit “follow” on your favourite artistes. Put your hot tracks into playlists, theming them by different moods. Now go deeper: Thanks to deep machine learning, these platforms build you playlists based on your jam of the day. Select a track you love, and find a button to give you a “radio station” of music built on that track. On Spotify, click the three dots at top right while playing a track, then hit “Go to Radio”. Bingo: a world of tracks built around your current favourites. As you listen, save the coolest tracks and hit “like” on those you respond to. Next, follow some playlists of artists you love, who will turn you on to some true gems. Repeat.
