Brave New Beginnings

- – NG YI LIAN, EDITOR

The start of a year is the perfect time to reframe our thoughts, rethink our priorities and, perhaps, re-evaluate our diets. I had never heard of “vegourmet” before our story (page 104). It’s a great concept for food lovers like me, who always thought that healthy fare meant a bland taste, but a few restaurants in Singapore have proven quite the contrary.

What signifies new beginnings better than wedding bells? I talked to our favourite girl-nextdoor Rebecca Lim, who gave us the exclusive goss on her soonto-be-husband Matthew, and just how blissfully happy she’s been in the last year.

The team has also been excited about the Sex and the City’s reboot And Just Like That… We’re looking forward to having Carrie Bradshaw inspiring our wardrobes and pages again (page 42).

And just like that... (sorry, I couldn’t help it) this is my last Ed’s Note for Her World. Some see it as the end of a chapter, but the optimist in me always sees the beginnings in endings, so I find it apt to leave after the first issue of a brand new year.

I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished since March 2019: the initiation of Her World Tribe, a community of strong multi-hyphenated women; Her World Her Story, now an International Women’s Day annual signature featuring inspiring women from all walks of life; and most of all, having safe spaces for conversations with Her World Rally panel discussions, Her World Pow Wow podcast and #HerWorldWithYou live IG chats.

I hope we don’t stop engaging, chatting and confiding in one another. After all, it’s through conversations that ideas are planted, and new beginnings happen.
