Self-love = Self-care
I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, but if there’s one thing I’m trying to be better at in 2022, it’s sleep. Yup, I admit I’ve been trying to kick that terrible “revenge bedtime procrastination” habit.
After all, good sleep comes with a whole host of health benefits, and I’m thrilled to know you can actually snooze your way to better skin (page 56).
This month, we’ve scoped out the best spas and treatments to try in Singapore (page 70), talked to some of our favourite personalities about self-care (page 98), and even put together a cheeky self-pleasure guide just for you (page 106).
Plus, get to know 22 Instagram-worthy fashion labels (page 18), and go ahead and treat yo’self. I’ve already bookmarked some fab finds.
Our cover girl Linying has come a long way since her first singing competition at 13. The 28-year-old gained plenty of recognition after co-composing The Road Ahead for NDP 2021, and she shares candidly about her growth as a singersongwriter (page 30).
Linying’s recently launched album There Could Be Wreckage Here is her introspective take on love, life and loss, and what struck me most during her illuminating interview is when she spoke about how her songs were about the inability to “let go”.
As humans, we own all sorts of emotional baggage, but how freeing would it be if we stopped being so tough on ourselves all the time? At the heart of it, I think self-love is really all about learning how to be kinder to ourselves. Don’t you agree?
