The Joy of Life
If anyone is wondering what my thoughts are on walking about mask-free and the recent lift on travel restrictions to Japan, all you have to do is look at my online shopping cart(s) and overflowing wish lists to get a clue.
Bright lippies, travel-sized beauty products, sequins, brocade and feathers… Oh my! Despite the new Covid-19 variants that seem to emerge faster than one can say, “The pandemic is over!”, there still is a sense of optimism in the air that I can’t seem to shake.
If you need some inspiration on how you can inject some joy into your dressing, look out for our colour story on dressing in acid brights (pg 16), the best wrist candy to invest in (pg 24), as well as partyready nails for the upcoming holiday season (pg 56).
Someone who really seems to truly embrace life is our cover star Nurul Aini (pg 26). As she celebrates her 20th year in the entertainment industry, I can’t help but feel inspired by her no-holds-barred take on living. Despite all the challenges she’s faced along the way, she has only emerged stronger, better and funnier than ever.
Of course, life is never just a one-sided affair. Despite all the revenge spending that seems to be happening these days, inflation is a very real problem that affects all of us.
Don’t get robbed by this alarming trend – learn how you can beat it by keeping your savings and investments in order (pg 68).
Our theme for this month is “More is More”. The idea of more or excess doesn’t always mean something good or the best ( just ask an economist about the law of diminishing returns), but there are certain things in life that I’m sure we can have a little bit more of.
The French have a phrase called “joie de vivre”, or the exuberant enjoyment of life, and as we head towards the end of the year, I wish you more joy, more love and more success in all that you undertake.
