Combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship and European glassmaking techniques, pioneer Japanese glassware company Hirota recently launched the Futachoko collection, which showcases gorgeous, intricately designed pieces. Contemporary, geometric patterns are realised through a contemporary take on Edo-Cut Glass, a 150-yearold glass sculpting method. The glasses create mesmerising reections when held up to the light, and can be used as tableware or candleholders. The Futachoko seven-piece collection truly pays tribute to the old and the new.
Hirota’s Futachoko glass cup and cover set retails for $ 298. Check out the full collection at Atomi, # 04- 26/ 27 Mandarin Gallery, www. atomi- jp. com.
