MAPLEBEAR SINGAPORE
What parents say
Derek and Phong Park, Malaysian and British; Daniel (12), Stanley (6) and Phoebe (3)
We previously lived in London before moving to Singapore. Stanley and Phoebe started attending MapleBear in February and March 2019 respectively. Stanley attends SK-A Pamela Allen and Phoebe attends PGA Pat Hutchins. We chose MapleBear as we really liked the space and feel of the nursery, making clever use of the old buildings at Horsecity. Everything is on the ground level and there are accessible outdoor play areas with children’s bicycles and slides. The classrooms are bright, spacious and full of children’s artwork, books and structured play toys. We were particularly struck by the genuine warmth and friendliness of the teachers. One of the teachers, Ms Veronica, especially made Stanley feel welcomed and helped him settle into school life.
The children love meeting and playing with their friends. There’s a lovely mix of children from local and international backgrounds. Each day is packed with different activities including creative artwork, music, physical activities, maths and literacy. MapleBear uses Letterland, which is fun and engaging for the children. The school also enjoys celebrating different cultural festivals, where everyone dresses up in traditional costumes.
A major highlight was watching Stanley perform at the Graduation Ceremony concert in 2019. It was an adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and everyone put in so much effort to put on a fantastic show including amazing props and beautiful costumes. The children were brilliant in reciting their lines, remembering the words to the songs and performing their dance moves. Stanley was beaming from ear to ear as he loves performing and was so proud that he remembered his lines and dance moves.
What Stanley loves
I like playing with my friends at the playground, especially the slides. I also like learning Chinese with my friends!
