I’ve been at SJI International Elementary School since Preparatory 1 in 2013. I particularly appreciate The Virtues Project; virtues are studied in the classrooms, modelled by my teachers and celebrated by students. Each week, we focus on one specific virtue; we read the virtue card, talk about what the virtue means, and discuss what that would look like in action. It has created a school environment where I feel safe and accepted.
My favourite subject is a toss-up between art and maths. Art allows me to be imaginative and gives me a chance to express myself in endless ways. Maths is very straightforward and I enjoy figuring out the relationship between numbers. Pre-COVID, my highlights at SJII were my Grade 6 Alice in Wonderland school musical and the trip to Rawa Island to learn about ocean sustainability.
During the Circuit Breaker, my teachers continued to encourage me to think about service projects. I started an initiative to document the school community’s appreciation for delivery riders and waste collectors with hashtags #SJIIGiveThanks. The idea was simple: just stick a thank-you poster at your door, add a tray of treats, snap a photo and share it on social media. I launched the appeal in the school newsletter and in just a week, more than 70 students and friends took up the cause.
I love horses and travelling. Besides experiencing the natural beauty, cultures and food, I like to learn and ride different horses. I’d like to combine my two loves and be an equestrian who travels the world to compete!
