TANGLIN TRUST SCHOOL
Voice of a student
Alex Milne, Year 13 (Head Boy), British
I’ve been at Tanglin since Reception and I’m currently in my final year of Sixth Form. At Tanglin, we’ve a spirit of community and we strive to be greater together. The work ethic is phenomenal; I feel that each student has a personal drive to better themselves, both on the academic front and beyond the curriculum.
Throughout my time here, I’ve always had a wide range of friends and enjoyed an environment where my teachers nurtured these friendships. In the Junior School, becoming a Class Representative and an Eco Leader gave me opportunities to learn how to lead. At Tanglin, positions of responsibility are always an achievable target, mainly due to our wonderful teachers encouraging us and providing opportunities for us to grow. The skills I learnt as young as Year 3 helped to form the person I am today and gave me the drive to aim for Head Boy. The Infant School gave such a positive foundation for this journey; the time we spent on play-based activities was so engaging that we didn’t realise we were learning! The system of schooling at Tanglin creates the necessary balance of sport, academics, play and purpose to enjoy what we are doing, giving us a can-do attitude.
My favourite subject is psychology; I find it truly fascinating. The ability to understand how a person’s thoughts and behaviour are formed is a unique skill. I hope to study psychology at university, with a view to a career in either child developmental psychology or marketing and advertising psychology.
A major highlight of my time at Tanglin has been becoming Head Boy, it’s something that I’ve always aspired to be. Becoming a representative for the entire school is an experience I’ll never forget.
