WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST PLACES YOU’VE TRAVELLED TO WITH THE FAMILY AND WHY?

Every year, we pick an American state at random and head off on a road trip. Although the US is a long flight from Asia, once you’re on the ground it’s incredibly family-friendly. We have been to so many states including New Mexico, Florida and Texas, but our favourites are Arizona and Hawaii. We also had a very special trip to Phnom Penh where we visited the girl we sponsor through the Cambodian Children’s Fund. I look forward to returning as soon as we can travel. Nicola

We did an epic trip around Vietnam visiting Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta, Halong Bay, Da Nang, Hoi An, and we even took a sleeper train to Sa Pa where we did a homestay in the countryside with a wonderful Vietnamese family. Another favourite trip was to Sri Lanka, where the kids experienced three very different sides of the country. We stayed inland around the tea-trails, then in the Sinharaja forested region, and finally in a colonial Dutch house close to the beach.

Sri Lanka is a family-friendly place with lots of national parks, great beaches, beautiful people and food. Lombok is also very close and it has beautiful white beaches. It’s quiet, scenic and so relaxing without the Bali traffic.

Melissa

We love laid-back Langkawi for its close proximity to Singapore and nice beaches. The booze is tax-free, there’s no traffic, and there’s an awesome (and terrifying) sky bridge. Margaret River is great as most of the wineries have playgrounds or gardens to run around so everyone is happy. Another recommendation is Siem Reap (especially Angkor Wat) for its cheap prices and friendly people who love kids.

Bali, Thailand and Margaret River are by far my favourite places to travel with the kids! They’re all family-friendly and if you pick the right hotel (in Bali and Thailand), the kids will have plenty of activities to keep them occupied with – including beach time and fun in the sun! Margaret River in Western Australia has wineries with really nice playgrounds, as well as animal farms with kangaroos, making it the perfect destination for both adults and kids! Nisha
