Nexus International School (Singapore)
Sai Subramanian, Year 12, Singaporean
I joined Nexus in August. There’s a plethora of things that I like about the school but there are two main aspects that stand out.
First, the facilities are fabulous – more specifically, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Hub and the Fitness Suite. I use the Hub during my free periods to catch up with school work or reply to emails. In the Fitness Suite, I put in about 30 minutes during lunch to work on my muscular endurance and to be in the best shape both physically and mentally.
Second, the teaching and administration staff are supportive – they give me guidance on how I can make a difference and make things better for the learner community.
My favourite subjects are Mathematics and Physics because they’re challenging, and they enable me to use my brain to the best of my ability.
I’ve had the chance to start my own extracurricular activities, which include Model United Nations, Hack Club and the school newspaper. As the founder of the school newspaper, I’m really proud to share that we published two issues this semester on Mental Health and Perspectives. Another major highlight was the recent Soles4Souls donation drive where we collected around 25 boxes of clothes and shoes for those living in the aftermath of the typhoon in the Philippines.
After I graduate, I have to enlist for National Service. Once I complete NS, I would like to pursue an Undergraduate Double Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management, followed by a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
