North London Collegiate School (Singapore)
Ruben Bruhl-Gati, Grade 9, British/Hungarian/Austrian
I have attended North London Collegiate School (Singapore) since its opening in August 2020. Having lived in Singapore for 13 years and attended other international schools, it was a refreshing surprise to encounter such a welcoming and supportive educational environment.
The interdisciplinary nature of the school’s curriculum provides me with the opportunity to explore all aspects of my interests, while the concept of academic societies allow me to discuss these interests further with my peers. The fortnightly McCabe Lectures allow teachers to express their unique and specific areas of interest, making it a fascinating way to spend a Wednesday lunchtime.
The excitement and passion held by teachers for their subjects are what sets NLCS (Singapore) apart from other schools; the academic rigour of each of my classes makes my days go by in an instant, while the support from my teachers ensures that I understand everything I am being taught. The values and ideals of the school are embodied in the excitement the teachers hold, inspiring me and my work. A major highlight of my time at the school was being invited to plant one of the four house trees on campus, alongside the British High Commissioner of Singapore, Her Excellency Ms Owens, and the Headmaster, Mr Friend. Being given the chance to represent my house in such an important manner was an incredible experience, an opportunity for which I am extremely grateful.
Being a student at this school has opened a myriad of possibilities for my future, and I eagerly anticipate what is to come.
