TRAVEL TIPS

-

When I was travelling with the girls I really liked the double pram that had one on the top and one below – mine was a Phil & Teds. I had both girls on it and then I had my backpack with everything in it, which meant that I could just strap them both on and off we went. Make sure you bring at least three set of changing clothes. I learnt my lesson when my daughter ended up wearing a tea towel because I only had one set of changing clothes with me when we travelled around Florence and she vomited all over the Uffizi Gallery – horrifying and embarrassing all at the same time!

I DON’T HAVE TOO MANY TIPS AS WE HAVE BEEN REALLY LUCKY AND GRATEFUL THAT BOTH KIDS ARE REALLY GOOD AND EASY TRAVELLERS.

WE TRAVELLED A LOT WITH SIENNA. SHE VISITED FOUR CONTINENTS. I HONESTLY CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR APART FROM: ACCEPT TO BE FLEXIBLE. ALSO, BREASTFEEDING ON THE PLANE HELPS A LOT.

I haven’t managed to travel with my two-year-old yet, but I heard from my business partner that it’s best to travel before they turn six months old because all you need to take is milk and a carrier! Once they start to eat, you need to prepare food for them. I also heard from my sister-in-law who flew to Mexico and back with her daughter that the flight attendants can very helpful if you have a baby. The hardest part is probably having to pee – whether they’re a toddler or in a carrier, you have to bring your baby to the bathroom with you!

We love luxury hotels but these might be a little boring and stuffy for the kids. As such, we try to intersperse our holidays with a stay in a selfcontained camping village wherever we go. Think good-value mobile homes located on the edge of the forest or by the sea, and surrounded by plenty of kid-friendly facilities like playgrounds and swimming pools.

It’s perfect for slow travel, which is essential when you have children!

We bring a toy and book along, but the kids are each allowed to buy a toy or book from the country we’re in, as a form of souvenir.

MY KIDS LOVE THE NOVELTY OF TRAVELLING. I USUALLY PACK EXTRA SNACKS AND WAKE THEM UP A LITTLE EARLIER ON THE DAY SO THEY GET SOME SHUT-EYE ON THE PLANE. NOTHING LIKE SOME SLEEP TO MAKE THE TRIP GO BY QUICKER! MY KIDS DON’T GET A LOT OF SCREEN TIME AT HOME SO THEY LOVE THE LUXURY OF THEIR OWN TELEVISION TOO. Esther

ALWAYS PACK MEDICATION AND EXTRA CLOTHES

FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILD IN CASE THEY GET SICK.
