When someone mentions the home of the future, what comes to mind? It’s easy to think of robot butlers, knobs and buttons that control anything and everything, as well as otherworldly design and architecture that looked like it may have popped out of a sci-fi film or comic. But in reality, the home of the future is not too far removed from reality. Instead, these dwellings boast practical improvements and developments that go beyond a short-lived wow factor. While some of you may have welcomed Smart Assistants like Google Home or Amazon Echo into your home with open arms, other interior additions still pretty much function like their predecessors. Except this time, they can be remotely controlled via a dedicated app on your smartphone or have gone through a design revamp, rendering a more thoughtful product that anticipates needs and complements your lifestyle. Here, we take a closer look at some nifty possible additions to your home that will make it future-ready, whether it’s for entertainment purposes, a better bathroom experience, purifying the quality of indoor air, or to simply make washing dishes less tedious.
