Bovet 1822 x Rolls Royce

Rolls-Royce knows all too well about the art of bespoke, one which they implement through their manufacturing technique called coachbuilding. It’s essentially the platform to build the car of your dreams, even if half of it ends up looking like a luxury superyacht. That is what one client desired from their coachbuilt Rolls-Royce,resulting in what the manufacture terms the‘Boat Tail’. While one would be keen to find ample storage space in the car rear, the‘Boat Tail’instead opens up to emulate an aft deck, which includes refrigerated compartments, glassware to set up on polished Caleidolegno veneers, and even a fixture for a pop-up umbrella. It is arguably the most opulent picnic mobile, which could very well set up shop on your front porch even if you have nowhere to go. But perhaps what makes this driving experience even more unique is the choice of timekeeping on the dashboard.Affixed on the fascia is a pièce unique Bovet 1822 timepiece, that’s designed as a reversible tourbillon to showcase its unique dials on either side. The front shows off the inscripted watchface with matching veneer design and RollsRoyce’sThe Spirit of Ecstasy emblem. The large aperture makes room for the tourbillon cage, where on the opposite side houses a more decorated dial and an engraved sculpture of the‘Boat Tail’.This stunning creation is made in a matching set, with one in a polished finish with a blue strap, and a blue lacquer-filled engraved case with a red strap for the other. Both timepieces are fashioned in an 18K white gold 44mm case, and can be worn five ways, including on the wrist,as a pocket watch,or as a table clock.
